has a lot of fun! |

The location I was in turned out not
to be the best, so when the woman who had the local craft shop asked me to take a space in
her store along with several other craftspeople, I jumped at it. Now I was able to make a
living of sorts weaving and selling a few weaving supplies. Alas, the old saying is true, the only constant in the universe is change.
The craftshop moved to a new location and went out of business soon after, the building we
were in was bought (us craftspeople stayed in the old location) and we had to move out.
While in the craftshop I had taken up spinning and had become fascinated with it, much to
the detriment of my weaving. After leaving the craftshop the name of the business was
changed to Mountain Spring Yarn Company, focusing on commercial and handspun yarn.
Mountain Spring Yarn Company eventually became Mountain Spring Studio.
In 1986 we moved to Connecticut and start doing the
show circuit selling blended fiber batts known as Crystal Clouds. In 1991, after getting
burned out doing that, we moved back here to Blacksburg (some people refer to this place
as Blackhole because it has a way of bringing people back).
It seems that once bitten by the fiber bug you are
hooked for life. In 1998 I decided I wanted to do a fiber web site, and Cyber Fyber was
born. In 2000 we moved into a physical location and the old Cyber Fyber didn't seem to fit
anymore, so it was time for another name change to Simpson & Co. Looking back, as each
change in growth came we changed our name to reflect that growth.
Where will the future take us? We don't know, but
the past has been an exciting adventure, the future is sure to be the same.
I do have more than one life! In my other life I
manage a natural foods store here in Blacksburg, Virginia, Eats Natural Foods Co-op.
I also love photography and have a website
dedicated solely to outdoor photography. Wild
